Golf Tournament to Benefit Attainable Housing

Every year the Realtors Association of St Lucie hosts a golf tournament to benefit the association’s Attainable Housing Program. Over $80,000 in Attainable Housing grants have been awarded through events and promotions such as this tournament.

This year we raised $12,000 which was almost double the amount raised last year. The 4th annual tournament was held at Gator Trace Golf and Country Club in Fort Pierce.

My New License Plate

I’m not a fan of bumper stickers, so I thought the semi-new “Support Homeownership For All” license plate would be a good contribution to the cause.

Proceeds from the sale of these plates goes to help teachers, nurses, and others (the “workforce”) attain affordable housing. There were 275 entries for the design of the plate and a Naples-based graphic-artist Realtor won the contest. To me the colors represent the cheery hopes of owning a home and the palm trees and sunny colors represent our special Florida communities.

The Florida Association of Reatlor’s specialty license plate is available online, by mail, or at your county tax collector’s office.

Short Sale Seminar Feb. 24th

Essay Contest: Scholarships for FL H.S. Seniors!

This is the 9th year that the Florida Association of Realtor’s is sponsoring a simple essay contest for Florida High School Seniors!

The topic: “How Does a Realtor Professional Benefit the Community?”
500 words or less, typed double-spaced.
Must be postmarked no later than February 9th, 2009.

First place essay-winners within the 13 districts will receive $1,000 Scholarship Award.
The 13 districts will compete for three state-level grand prize awards of $5,000 each.

The scholarships are good for High School seniors residing in Florida who plan to continue their education at any college, university, technical school, or some other institution of higher learning.

PSL Civic Center : Grand Opening

The week of December 1st commemorates the grand opening of the Port St Lucie Civic Center.

I had the priveledge of attending the community tour on Tuesday, December 2nd around lunch time.

The center boasts a whopping 100,000 square feet that includes ballrooms, conference rooms, a fitness center, a gymnasium, a game room, art gallery, and many other nooks and crannies. Outside there is a stage in front of the entrance that I am assuming will be used for concerts and events. To the south west corner sits a 4 level parking garage.

The facility is on US1 at the Walton Road / Veterans Memorial Parkway traffic light.
